How-To: Remove Stuck or Frozen Float Pin

By far the easiest way to remove a carburetor float pin is with a spring loaded center punch. You’ll need to support the opposite float post with a socket large enough to accept the pin. I like to start with the softest setting on the punch, and work my way up until the pin moves. One or two blows from the spring loaded punch should make the pin budge.  You may have to grind the punch to reduce the diameter if needed.

So whether you have a press fit pin, or an older carburetor with a stuck or frozen pin, try this method! Whatever you do, don’t break the float post off!
