Unboxing GoPro Hero3+ Black Edition Camera

GoPro Hero3+ Black

Well, I finally bit the bullet and bought a brand spanking new GoPro Hero3+ Black Edition Camera. I’ve wanted one for years and finally was able to justify the cost. I currently shoot all my vids here with the Flip Ultra HD, and it does a pretty good job while on the tripod. There are a couple of vids where I suction cup or handlebar mount the Flip on the motorcycle and take it for a test ride. The video turns out really shaky and the wind noise is horrible.

I also just upgraded to a smartphone (yes I had a cheap flip phone up until now), and pretty excited to use the GoPro app and be able to see video on the phone, which will make mount adjustment a piece of cake. Also included in this version of the GoPro is the “key fob” remote, which will allow me to start/stop recording. I plan to attach it to my handlebar pad for easy access.

So moving forward, I’ll be using the GoPro for all test ride videos, and anytime I take the KX250 out. I’ll also try to include before and after repair test ride vids. I think this will help viewers get a sense of the problem that needs to addressed.

On a side note, I also do quite a bit of snowboarding and wakeboarding, so I’m excited to start using the GoPro for those sports as well.

Here are a few key items that are new for the Hero 3+:

  • Smaller housing, camera size is the same
  • 30% better battery life
  • Sharper lens
  • Superview: giving a wider field of view
  • Auto low light mode

If you are in the market for a GoPro, here is where I purchased mine.

  1. My girlfriend bought me a GoPro Hero 3+ for Christmas but since my CRF250 is “dead” i cant ride for another month (waiting for parts and bad economy has slow down the process 🙁 )

Here a picture how i mount it: http://i.imgur.com/GWRQiPm.jpg
You should look if it fits the same way, it gives you a really good field of view! you can also see my engine on the picture, hehe..

It looks like its pointing to high but its no problem for me (depending how you point you head when driving)

Hopefully my comment gave you an idea how to mount the gopro!

    • Dennis, that is a cool mounting idea, I’ll have to try it one day. I have clear googles right now, will have to buy tinted in order to try that on a sunny day.

      What happened to your CRF?

      • Some helmets dont have enoth space under the flap thing, my friend has Thor and it does not work for him..

Tinted is awesome, works on cloudy days but in the end of the summer and the day it starts to get realy dark, hehe.. Ive got two lenses (clear and tinted) tho!

Sandtrack, worked flawless whole day, went home washed it, did not start when i was going to clean the exhaust for eventually water, and i could not start it.. And when i checked the valves they where off line hell, more then i could measure.. So i thougt the valves has gone completly..

Bought a Wiseco piston just in case when i had everything “off the bike” and then my friend said that my cylinder looked alittlebit worn.. So im going to buy a new one..
This is my first piston change when i own it so i think its good to change while i can and for future thinking..

Then came chrismas and this bad weather 😉

My CRF is a 2009 so its not that old..

Anyway hope you could read that 😀 My english might be as good as a fifth grader buy im trying my best 🙂

  2. That description was realy bad, new valves, new pistion, new cylinder, new valve seats (not new but redone), jet kit stage1 (recommend alot!), Powerbowl 2 is going to be new for 2014 on my bike! Going to be a good year!
